Abstract: This article explores asylum seekers' volunteer work as a specific form of socio-professional integration during the "gap period" of the asylum process. With legal restrictions and social and economic precarity limiting access to employment, volunteering functions as a form of regularization, a strategy for accessing rights, and a tool for managing procedural waiting. The study highlights how associations, public authorities, and asylum seekers themselves engage with this practice, revealing tensions between employability support and labor market marginalization, while shedding light on the professional recognition issues raised by the injunction to "stay active."
