Abstract:
The integration of circular economy principles in the healthcare sector faces significant structural, regulatory, and organizational constraints, notably due to infection prevention requirements, strict normative frameworks, and the complexity of value chains [1], [2]. While recent literature identifies a growing number of circular economy initiatives in healthcare, it remains limited in analyzing the organizational dynamics and multi-actor coordination mechanisms required for their integration and long-term viability [3]. This study addresses these dimensions through an analysis of the circular health Microlabs developed by the Centre for Research in Accounting and Sustainable Development (CerCeDD) at Université Laval (Québec). It adopts a qualitative methodology based on a multiple case study approach [4], combining document analysis, observation, and semi-structured interviews. Preliminary findings suggest that Microlabs function as spaces of collective learning and co-creation, and that the integration of circular practices relies on the combined effect of these learning processes and systemic intermediation ensuring the coordination of the initiative [5], [6], [7].
