Abstract:
This paper studies the French classical economists between 1903 and 1848. In the first part, we consider how they modified their own theoretical tradition (i.e. Physiocracy) and how they modified basic elements of Smith's Wealth of Nations. In the second part, we deals with the reasons explainig the negative reaction of the Franch economists vis-à-vis Ricardo's Principles. Finally, the last part explain how these econopmists relied on Smith when they tried to escapte the Ricardian approach.
