Abstract: We study the analysis of the access to the high skilled jobs young people of the generation left the education system in 1998. We show that the family background plays a part after the exit of the education system independently of the effect of the family background on the education level. In addition, if the education level of the girls is higher on average than that of the boys, the proportion of boys who occupies high skilled jobs is a higher quarter than that of the girls. First of all, the family background proves more penalizing for the girls that for the boys. Then, the influence of the profession of the father appears especially favorable to the boys, the profession of the mother acting especially on the destiny of the girls. The indirect effect of the family background via the level of studies remains nevertheless the principal one determining access to the most qualified employment
