Abstract: Few is known about Chinese small and medium enterprises (SME). But few is known by the Chinesethemselves. First because of conceptual reasons, and secondly, for statistical reasons. This situation can beexplained by ideological preoccupations, identifying economic modernity to large enterprises, but also bycurrent political priorities that put their priority on the reform of the appropriation of the means ofproduction. The unemployment, mainly issued from the reforms, which lead today the Chinese governmentto encourage strategies lying on the SMEs.
