Abstract:
In this paper we focus on the processes whereby an individual at work is singled out andvictimized at work. We define this process as psychological harassment and review therelated lierature. On the basis of a single case involving a French human resource manager,we describe and illustrate the complex and dynamic processes of psychological harassment. To help managers combat psychological harassment in the workplace, we propose anintervention tool for identifying, managing, and preventing psychological harassmentbehavior. We argue managers may effectively combat psychological harassment in theworkplace when they utilize the proposed tool in a systematic manner and carefully considerthe implications of intervention.
