Abstract:
TGV/Air Intermodality what boost for the Lyon Saint Exupery TGV Station. – In 1994, with the inaugurations of TGV stations in the Lyon Satolas and Paris Charles de Gaulle stations, France took a big step in the air and railroad interconnection, though the results are contrasted. The Roissy Charles de Gaulle station is now a success in terms of attendance, supported by the development of intermodal services. In spite of the development of air traffic, of a strong region, of TGV services and the efforts made in the area of the station, Lyon Saint Exupéry TGV cannot boast such results. Both networks cross but do not really interconnect. This item shows the difficult TGV/AIR interconnection equation, which is not only an issue of infrastructure. The very concept of airport station in France is paradoxical. The traffic volume at issue, the network configuration, the nature of flights or accessibility are deciding factors. Nonetheless, in a public finance crisis context combined efforts could maybe help boost the outstanding facility of the Lyon Saint Exupery TGV Station.----------------------------------------------With the authors and the publisher of the copyright agreement.
