Abstract:
The developments of Information and Communication Technology are coupled with competencies that are transforming and occupations which are being redefined. The intranet webmasters' case is symptomatic of such a phenomenon. This paper studies how, along with the evolution of technology, the webmaster population emerges and attempts to professionalize itself. This article is based on a monographic research regarding an industrial firm and on a comparison between the structures of the webmaster profession in France and the USA.
