Abstract:
According to the data collected, French urban public transports are characterised by high wage levels, compared to close positions. This cost premium does not help to promote public transports and constrain the level of public service offered. It is neither fair, neither efficient, nor durable. The origin of this failure is linked to the fact that this industry is strongly dependant of public subsidies. We try to show how some institutional differentiation introduce a bias during the wage determination process.
