Abstract: Regional integration processes are proliferating in varied forms. A distinction between economic and institutional coordination is useful tool to clarify the nature of linkages between geographically close countries. Our typology based on these two criteria gives new light on the East-Asian integration process. This region could be seen with two perimeters: « regionalization » within Asean Plus Three (APT) and regional economic integration within ASEAN.
