Abstract: The Cotton War refers to the protest, before the WTO, of four African countries against the subsidies of a few countries. The article points out that the abolition of subsidies will not influence so much the world market price while the impacts of using GM varieties to improve productivity mainly will depend on the conditions of their commercial release.
