Abstract:
This article focuses on the internationalization of retail strategies. A sample of twenty five large international food retailers was used. Four groups of actors are identified according to the strategies used (franchising, acquisition of foreign subsidiaries, joint ventures and opportunity seeking strategies). An analysis of these groups emphasizes continental or regional strategy adaptations, as well as a variety of other strategies used by international retailers.
