Abstract: We study the conditions of creation of the Crédit Mutuel in Alsace-Moselle (close the contemporaneous ones of developing economies) as well as its current organization, through the categories of proximity economy and institutionalism. Concerning local clustering we propose the categories of co-current and contra-current movements; concerning the long term deployment we propose three phases: clustering, universalization and governmentalization
