Des limites du mode de développement de l'économie japonaise: examens institutionnels et historiques

Hiroatsu Nohara

Post-Print from HAL

Abstract: This paper aims to clarify the economic challenges that Japan actually meets, in analysing the Japanese form ofcorporate governance which represents a central institution of "relational" capitalism. We attempt to follow historically the emergence, the development and the weakening of this institution within an evolutionist framework of analysis. We thus obtain two main results. The first implies the reinterpretation of Aoki's co-operative model, by contextualising it in the real historical time. In particular, it permits to consider such a functional model as a specific context-bounded one. The second leads us to place emphasis on the notion of "new agents" who emerge in the old institutional arrangement. They play a crucial role at each criticalpoint of history, by initiating a deep change with their alternative cognitive resources.
