Abstract:
State-profession nexus impacts accounting professionalization process. Literature analyzed this relationship within British colonial context. This paper aims to throw further light on this nexus through the French colonial context. Accounting professionalization during the French protectorate on Morocco shows specificities in the relationships: accounting profession-state, home country-protectorate administrations and professions. Mimicry is not the only possible output of the centre's organizations influence.
