Abstract:
In a context of an increasing local consumption, marketing through local food chains and food baskets can give dynamism to the rural and agricultural economy. It may allow some farmers in difficult situation and/ or farmers without enough resources to explore long food chains to ensure their existence and increase their income. However, this marketing deal with important changes in the agricultural activity, the organization of the work on the farm, and finally the way the farmer represents its job. Our purpose is to show how marketing through food basket for vegetables growers can produce professional integration or unlike precariousness. The paper analyses the relationship to work according to three dimensions: homo faber, homo oeconomicus et homo sociologicus. The methodology consisted in semi-directive interviews of 11 vegetables growers. Some farmers succeed in being satisfied for the three dimensions, they are quite serene and secure for the future of their farm. The most frequent difficulties and tensions are the questions of working time and income. Generally, these farmers are creating and developing a form of agriculture embedded on the territory, little specialized, with the ambition to protect the natural resources of their farms.
