Abstract: This article aims to characterize the logical and history meaning of the Marxian law of value in the transition from industrial capitalism to cognitive capitalism. The analysis is organized in three parts. The first one seeks to clarify what is meant by the concept of law of labour-time value and what is its relationship with the law of surplus-value whose it is a dependent variable and historically determined. Relative to this relationship, we will refer to the notion of law of valu/surplus-value. In the second and the third part, we will focus on key dynamics characterizing the progressive force of the law of value/surplus-value in industrial capitalism and its weakening in contemporary capitalism.
