Abstract: Career mobility is not something trivial and banal. It remains, in many situations, despite the values and practices of our contemporary society, an individual problem. However, management research do not give us many means to decipher and understand, at an individual level, what happens in these situations more and more recurrent in the career of the employee. That is the purpose of this contribution. Based on a qualitative longitudinal design and the stories of three individuals employed by a high-tech company, this contribution provides an analysis of representations and experiences of the mobility process of these players through the concepts of distance and proximity. The interpretative framework adopted in this work, allows us to explore the complexity of this process and to provide a spatial resolution of the mobility experience and individual strategies deployed within it. Finally, this contribution offers a research program around a transversal design of "sets of scales" of proximity and distance that the spatial approach of organizational problems invites to adopt.
