Abstract: The return of a manager after a period of international mobility is often described as a major transition, a new "culture shock", but it may be an opportunity both for the individual and for the company. Reactions of managers coming back from expatriation are studied here on the basis of interviews and analyzed through a grid adapted from Adler's (1981) bi-dimensional grid using expatriates' satisfaction and reaction mode (active/passive).
