Abstract: Because of strong competition and crisis, NGOs need to reassure stakeholders about the effectiveness of their management. Our article deals with the effectiveness of NGOs' standards (labels, certification, etc.). Interviews were implemented on main French NGOs and on the Association pour la Recherche sur le Cancer that suffered of a big crisis in 1996. The aim is to analyze the effectiveness and limits of NGOs' standards.
