Abstract: This chapter focuses on inter-firm linkages (cooperative alliances, mergers-acquisitions) that companies choose to form in order to develop on international markets. Growth has been a priority objective for many decades, but the phenomenon of globalisation has accelerated the expansion of companies. In many industries, it has become necessary to achieve a critical size in order to remain competitive on the world market. In this context, companies frequently choose to associate with other actors to increase their presence on other geographical markets. The proposed contribution is based on the pioneer work conducted by Robert Paturel on the concept of growth in order to clarify the boundaries of inter-firm linkages. The presented developments are illustrated by the analysis of the growth strategy followed by the GL events group from Lyon, which has become one of the world leaders in the event industry.
