Abstract: Within entrepreneurship literature, the organisational emergence phase appears to require in-depth investigation. This phase is characterised by a person's intention to create an organisation and the actions they undertake to that effect and it covers a variety of realities. In order to contribute to a better understanding of it, we use an intention model that relates the impact of attitude toward entrepreneurship, subjective norm and entrepreneurial self-efficacy to the entrepreneurial behaviour intention expressed by a group of French project carriers. Our results lead us to identify the notion of entrepreneurial determination as a complement to entrepreneurial intention. Intention refers to a person's will to become an entrepreneur and determination refers to the degree of priority this will has in the person's life. Our analysis shows that the three selected antecedents appear to have a positive effect on both entrepreneurial intention and determination. Furthermore, while the relative weight of each antecedent varies between the two aspects, in both cases attitude towards entrepreneurship (i.e. the attraction toward an independent career as opposed to a salaried one) appears to be the prominent explanatory element.
