Sur les sources de l'intensification

Abstract:
Numerous case studies and exploitation of the working condition surveys have concluded to a work intensification in Europe during the past decade. Some studies in Economics, Sociology or Psychology aim to find determinants of this intensification. Three scenarios emerge : technological and organisational determinism, de-unionisation, and fear of firing. This paper provides first an analytic review of these hypotheses. Second, we give an original exploitation of the French Working Condition survey to test the impact of the fear of losing job.
