Abstract:
Two main approaches are emerging from the numerous academic researches on Industrial ecology. For some authors it is a tool for eco-efficiency in existing economic systemes. For others, its implementation represents a radical shift of human activity systems. As part of this second meaning, this paper seeks to show how the agri-food sector might be a relevant starting point to initiate changes inherent to the implementation of an industrial ecology approach. The locally based organization of the agricultural activity is therefore one of the main arguments developped.
