Abstract:
At request of the government of New-Caledonia, the French Competition Authority carried it out a kind of audit of the Caledonian economic system, although, due to its wide political autonomy, this territory remains outside the jurisdiction of the French competition law. In two separate reports, the French Authority evaluates the current interventionist economic policy and offers an assessment of its numerous harmful effects. Also, one of the reports puts forward the major outlines of the reform needed to improve the functioning of competition on the Caledonian markets.
