Abstract: In the perspective of 2012 Venezuelan presidential elections, this paper offers a comparative analysis of the health and educational systems of the country, which constitute the core of chavist political strategy since 1998. Having placed these public politics in their historical context, the authors draw up their balance sheet after 14 years of chavism and highlight how the two main candidates mention them and the elements at stake within the framework of the presidential campaign.
