Abstract: In the perspective of sustainable city, this paper evaluates the impact of setting up traffic toll zones on the evolution of inequalities to Lyon metropolitan area. Its simulates this new pricing, authorized by the Local Environment Protection Plan, and evaluates its impact on the evolution of inequalities in comparison to the current situation used as reference. We use several indicators like Gini, Theil and Atkinson but also the evaluation of the variation of gravity-based potential to measures accessibility. This work is based on three steps. After a review of literature on the inequality measures and an explanation of our methodology and data, we test a new pricing measure, a cordon pricing, to evaluate its impacts on inequalities. Our results show that the different indicators of inequality produce highly contrasted results on both the scale of the zone and that the city. We show an increase of inequality because of the cordon pricing, with a more important increase for the outer cordon area, particularly for zone located near the cordon, than for the inner cordon zone.
