Abstract:
Whereas many experiences aiming to construct local social indicators are been developed, there is a need to examine the issues related to their proliferation. This paper focuses on explaining the reasons of this diversity and on exploring the benefits and limitations linked to such proliferation. On the basis of a constructive methodological approach, we will ponder the contribution of these experiences to the renewal of social observation at the local level. We also explore the partaking of these experiments to the complex and nonlinear emergence of new socio-political conventions. On these two accounts, the diversity of local experiences' related to the construction of alternative indicators appears to us to be a necessary step.
