Abstract: This article aims to study, for a supply chain, the relationship between its vulnerability, risks and performance. Therefore, a research conceptual model has been developed through a literature review, and statistically tested by quantitative data, collected at the end of 2012 with 40 supply chain managers of Moroccan food companies. The results show that (1) the supply chain vulnerability influences the importance of supply chain risks, and that (2) the supply chain performance is influenced not only by its vulnerability but also by its risks and particularly by the risks associated with supplies. These results have brought about a substantial awareness of the importance of Upstream Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM).
