Abstract:
In applying René Bussière's urban economy model to the Lyon area, it can be seen that there is generally a higher concentration of jobs than of workforce in the heart of the metropolitan area, but the jobs are increasing in number more quickly in the inner suburbs. Industrial activities, in decline, are split up in an outward direction, while tertiary activities are becoming more concentrated from city centres to the inner rings. The spread of residences beyond the inner ring is following along the main transport axes.
