Abstract:
Within fast growing cooperative organizations, two institutional logics are involved. Institutional logics driven by the market and financial rules of capitalism is challenging the founding institutional logics of organizations designed under cooperative rules and values. In this paper, we study how these two logics coevolve within one cooperative organization over time. Empirically we focus on a French vertically integrated and internationalized agricultural cooperative. The main result of this exploratory research is that the intraorganizational evolution of these two logics discloses an unstable equilibrium which could lead to the advent of the capitalist logics over the cooperative one.
