Abstract:
To what extent could the economic integration of Chinese manufacturers in the automobile sector in Algeria move from a simple commercial partnership in concession activities to a real financial partnership in production activities? In this article, we show that partnerships are not limited to Algerian-Chinese relations, but, because of the multiform alliances of Chinese manufacturers with Western and Japanese manufacturers, they could contribute to bring their Algerian partners into globalisation. However, this process is most often blocked in technical-commercial partnerships, both for public-private partnerships and for private-private partnerships. What is the part of Chinese manufacturers' strategy and that of their Algerian partners in this configuration? What room for manoeuvre does Algeria have to form genuine production partnerships?
