Abstract:
Sismondi's study of property in the Nouveaux Principes d'économie politique is not separable from his definition of wealth. It is by turning to the Rousseauist method of the second Discours that he characterizes wealth. Property is approached from the point of view of the constraints of reproduction conditioned by the respect of a fair relationship between production and consumption. It is ultimately less the property than the relationship to the property that is essential for Sismondi.
