Abstract: This paper discusses the threats to the conservation of tools and machinery in the aviation industry. Indeed, this recent and flourishing activity has not yet become fully aware of its historical and heritage dimension. Its actors sometimes act in a scattered order to save what can be saved. In this world which has a cult of secrecy, the university historian is not always welcome, in Toulouse as in Seattle. Fortunately, there are dynamic associations that multiply initiatives in order to avoid irreparable losses. But for the oldest periods, many documents and objects are already missing.
