Abstract: "The following pages aim to propose a re-reading of the Ideologues and of their journal La Décade as a movement from which sprang the political economy of Jean-Baptiste Say, who was part of these circles and who contributed to define their characters. J.-B. Say contributed during his whole lifetime to the establishment of the Republic, without accepting official seats in the state apparatus, and without any titles of nobility (like many other Ideologues). His republicanism was based on the development and dissemination of knowledge about the functioning of society throughout the population, and La Décade was an important instrument of this process."
