Abstract: This article discusses two pieces of work on Côte d'Ivoire published by Afrobarometer in 2019 and 2020. It aims to verify whether what those Ivorians who were surveyed "feel" is similar to, or different from, what the available statistical data reveal, primarily about the Chinese presence, but also about that of the French and the Americans, insofar as the latter two served as a counterpoint to the first.
