Abstract: This article analyzes the process of institutionalization of the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) in France since the start of the 2008 crisis, of which the law of July 2014 constitutes the culmination point. Following a neo- institutionalist approach, this research was based on the completion of twenty interviews with SSE actors to identify the changes which they had experienced at work. It reveals that the transformations underway – widening of the SSE perimeter; shifting from democracy to participation; evolution of the financing of SSE and of the territories in which the devices are deployed – are evidence of growing tensions between market or competitive dynamics and social dynamics. Keywords: social and solidarity economy, social entrepreneurship, neo-institutionalism, law of July 2014
