Abstract: The debates which surrounded the choice of the layout of the first Parisian tram are the occasion to highlight two specific processes on which the actors invest: that of scaling them traced them to make and, contrary, that of their dissociation comparable to make them incommensurable. These two operations are the occasion for them to organize their perception of the world, to put it in order, to give him direction. The article thus proposes to be interested in the use of the scales and the factory of the linking between a problem, a solution (a layout), an instrument (a tram) and a coalition of actors whom it facilitates.
