Abstract:
This article analyses the relationship between qualitative differences in the education and training of graduates from higher education teaching programmes and the outcomes they achieve in formal employment in Brazil. We used data from Enade 2011 and RAIS 2014 to investigate two types of outcomes for graduates in the labour market: (1) entry into formal employment; and (2) employment in typical teaching occupations. The analysis indicates inequalities in outcomes by gender, race, and above all, socio-economic level of graduates, as well as showing that qualitative differences in higher education are important for their occupational destiny.
