Abstract: This text describes some uses of ABM in economics and focuses on aspects that can be of interest for the theory of regulation. For example, it is possible to understand the history of emerging structures as a result of autonomous learning agents, which ena-bles to think about possibilities rather than equilibrium. It is also possible to think interactions between structure and individ-ual action, as a reciprocal control, and path-dependence for this co-evolution. Links towards institutionalism and experiments are made.
