Abstract: The multiple references to the famous ancient model that the expression ‘mixed constitution' seems to refer to certainly share the same lexical markers, but relate to very different contexts and representations. This conceptual, political and ideological conundrum is the motivation behind the collective investigation conducted in this book, which adopts a chronological structure in an attempt to better distinguish between the socio-political and epistemological traditions and ruptures of the idea of a mixed constitution.
