Abstract:
To what extent is Artificial Intelligence (AI) changing the way innovation takes place in its many applications? We propose an original method, based on network analysis, to identify the inflections in technological trajectories and paradigmatic shifts that innovations in this field are driving in agriculture. We apply it to the period 2013-2019 using patent data. We show that AI plays a driving role in the transformation of innovation processes in agriculture, in the context of the challenges that are now emerging in crop management.
