Pour une éthique de la modélisation économique en situation d'expertise. Le cas de la modélisation de l'avenir énergétique à moyen et long terme

Olivier Godard

Working Papers from HAL

Abstract: Contexts of expertise are apparently very clear and simple: experts bring the knowledge and decision-makers make decisions on the basis of the information they receive. This way to present the relationship hides a more fundamental ambiguity. The latter raises an ethical issue of framing economic modelling when it is used for expertise. Specific cases of modelling energy futures and global warming policies support a more general thinking towards two directions: pointing out the conditions under which modelling can really stimulate a reflection and not only excite pavlovian reflexes or reinforce prevailing beliefs; putting into question the way standard economic modelling approaches the far distant future.
