Abstract: Strategic decision making in companies has always been considered as the privileged occupation of management. Today it is seen quite clearly that the very existance of a company depends, more than ever before, on the ability of its managers to skillfully direct its strategy. Having noted the insufficiency of available methods in helping the decision maker in such a choice, this paper will try to outline the main conceptual framework of a solid methodology for help in strategic decision making. In particular, it makes use of multicriteria type model techniques. This approach, even if it has still to be validified and refined by a greater number of practical applications, nevertheless allows us to catch a glimpse of the development of a new type of formality in active strategic consultancy, dealing with the wishes of entrepreneurs.
