Abstract:
This study explores the current and potential future contribution of SMEs and entrepreneurs to eco-innovation and the transition to green growth. It analyses the active participation of SMEs in emerging green industries, the role that green entrepreneurs play in the development and commercialisation of eco-innovations, the uptake of eco-innovations and more sustainable practices by the SME sector at large. With respect to these dimensions, the report illustrates key drivers and barriers, and discusses policies that are being developed to foster entrepreneurial endeavours and support SMEs' transition to sustainable practices, in both manufacturing and services.
