Working Papers from HAL

Abstract: The logic of subcontracting in the industrial sector is currently undergoing a profound change. Cascading subcontracting is giving way to the networking of actors involved in production. The hierarchy is becoming less and less important in favour of an operation in which the client company no longer subcontracts elements or parts of the final product, but manages functions or systems. The responsibility of subcontractors is growing, with a significant and marked role in the network of other assemblers. They must be able to design sub-systems that meet the functions entrusted to them.
