Abstract:
The article provides an analysis of the early formulations of the Austrian business cycle theory by Hayek and Mises during the 1910s-1920s. It seeks to highlight the developments, various points of convergence, and points of departure in the thinking of these two authors on the issue of economic cycles and their management. Although they share a similar theoretical explanation of the cyclical process, Mises and Hayek differ in their recommendations for economic policy.
