Abstract: Small area estimation is a statistical technique that allows to respond to challenges regarding the availability of disaggregated data level of local authorities. In fact, surveys of households often provide several detailed information but, in due to the enormous costs, do not allow a representativeness of the indicators down to the finest level (departments, municipalities). THE censuses cover all households but do not take into account all indicators (unemployment, poverty, food security, prevalence of certain diseases etc.). Decentralized policies in community level thus come up against a lack of data to inform decisions. This paper proposes the calculation of the poverty rate by municipality using data from the survey on living conditions of households in Senegal (EHCVM) carried out in 2018.
