Abstract:
This material starts from the premise that the discussion of power in foreign trade relations must precede the argument about the selection between liberal and protectionist options. It will illustrate, in turn, the theoretical sources that place the concept of power in economic analysis and their methodological implications. The objective of the presentation is to provide a synthetic form to the analysis of the concept of power, understood as trade dependence. Increasingly, contemporary developments require systematic analyses of the construction of commercial power in the foundation of any economic strategy, be it of a small or large country.
