Abstract:
Candidates in the French presidential elections adopt positions on the political chessboard based on their programmes, but also on strategies to increase their chances of reaching the second round and/or winning. In eleven elections, situations akin to the spatial competition or battle of the sexes have been observed. Until 2012, the political offer was bipolar. It has become tripolar since 2017.
